How to make it

Unless your printing on really thick card you are likely to want to print four Christmas trees out and glue a front and back together.

The first thing you will want to do is decorate your tree as much as you want, but leave the star for the top off (we put that on near the end).

Before this video started I glued a front and back to each Christmas tree together and then cut them out. (gluing the pages together before cutting them means there's less of a faff lining them up. If they didn't quite line up you can trim them after).

Then cut down the line that is in the middle of the Christmas tree. one will start from the tip of the tree going down to the middle. The other will start from the bottom of the trunk and go to the middle. You then need to slide the two trees together through the cuts you just made. Fold them out so when you look at the bottom the trunk now makes the shape of a cross. Your tree should now stand up by itself !

After cutting the four stars out you need to fold them each in half with a point pointing upwards. You then put each star in each of the four sections of the tree. The fold you made in the star should fit against the corner of the top of the tree. Glue each star in each of the four sections so they line up with each other.

If your tree stands up well and you are happy with it you can skip this step ! I've included 4 copies of the tree trunks for the bottom. This is to make it sturdier if you want top. On practice my little one painted the tree with quite a lot of paint and I found this helped.

If you decide to use the tree trunks you just do the same as what we did with the stars. Fold each one in half and glue them into each section of base of the Christmas tree lining up the folds.

Your tree should now be finished :)
